Environmental Science Teacher

Core Responsibilities:
* Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and implementation of personal learning plans of students.
* Demonstrate effective planning and organization for instruction.
* Select appropriate materials for implementation of the curriculum and adapt materials and methods to the learning styles and abilities of students.
* Be creative and adaptive in responding to situations to maintain order and continued learning.
* Motivate students to achieve at their highest level of ability and potential through classroom activities, assignments, relationships, participation, and feedback; hold high expectations and demonstrate sensitivity to different abilities and readiness.
* Work cooperatively with guardians and generate guardians' confidence.
* Demonstrate genuine concern for students in a climate characterized by high personal and student expectations.
* Accept responsibility for personal growth and implementation of professional development; contribute to a cooperative and collaborative learning community in and out of the classroom.
* Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly classroom that involves students in its upkeep.
* Carry out other duties assigned by the principal and/or Choice Schools Associates.

Essential Skills and Competencies:
* Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate
* Additional endorsements (i.e. Biology, Science, Environmental Science).
* Demonstrated competence as a teacher.
* Computer literate with experience working with different technology.
* Excellent verbal and written expression.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
* Passion for environmental education.
