OPAT Treatment Nurse

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 OPAT treatment nurse to care for patients on the OPAT program, many of whom have differing healthcare needs.
They will utilise their clinical expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver high quality evidence/research based care to the OPAT patient. This care will take place in the infusion centre, our clinics and in the community setting. There is an element of lone working.
The post holder will be expected to use their experience to support the implementation of clinical governance to improve patient services.
They will be required to work flexibly as a member of the OPAT team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved. In addition to the obligatory clinical skills, the practitioner may be required to develop a range of additional skills or techniques that fall outside the usual scope of nursing practice, including line placement.

As an OPAT Treatment nurse/nurse you will be responsible for:
* Administering intravenous antibiotics in the community and at home
* Managing your own workload
* Demonstrating an interest in holistic care with a keen interest in infection
* Being an effective communicator and delivering high standards of care
* Lone working in the community, requiring autonomous decision making
* Working a 50/50 split between NUH and community settings

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The band 5 OPAT treatment nurse will care for many patients on the OPAT program, many of whom have differing healthcare needs. They will utilise their clinical expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver high quality evidence/research based care to the OPAT patient. This care will take place in the infusion centre, our clinics and in the community setting.
The post holder will need to take charge of the clinical case load/centre in the absence of the OPAT manager/Specialist Nurses and must be able to drive and have access to a car for work purposes.

Training & Experience
* Experience in outpatient setting
* Previous experience in a community setting
Training
* OPAT experience
* Completion of IV training packages and be able to cannulate and perform venepuncture
Analytical and Judgement Skills
* Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care
* Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team
Other
* Must hold full UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes
