Recruitment Profile
1. Support the Team Leader for Operations Management supervising the delivery of high quality, customer focussed transport services to the public and other clients, in line with service agreements.
2. Responsible for ensuring that the Councils In-House fleet and drivers are utilised to full capacity to support the delivery of a wide range of transport services across the region.
3. Responsible for the daily run out and run in of all council operated bus services and school contracts.
4. Responsible for the day-to-day management of ticket machines and the ticketer back office.
5. Pricing contracts for the Team Leader for Operations Management approval.
6. Support the Public Transport officer in the implementation and monitoring of driver and vehicle compliance within health and safety policies, procedures and arrangements.
7. Produce detailed ticket and mileage information to support the Team Leader for Operations Management with concessionary reimbursement and mileage claims, ensuring any additional or lost mileage is recorded accurately.
8. Supporting the Team Leader for Operations Management to develop relationships with partners.
9. Identifying transport solutions for emergency planning.
10. Design and maintain efficient staff rotas, ensuring compliant driver coverage across all services, planning for holidays, training and service changes in line with relevant UK drivers’ hours and licensing legislation.
11. Delivering best value for Education in line with the Councils transport Booking Policy for a wide range of services and clients as requested.
12. Support the Team Leader for Operations Management with compiling local bus service registrations for new services, variations and cancellations in line with the timescales set out by the UK TC.
13. Maintain lost service miles to a minimum for all council in house fleet services.
14. Organising services diversions during local festivals, road works and RTAs and ensuring drivers are notified in advance.
15. Ensuring replacement vehicles are provided in the event of breakdowns or service disruptions.
16. Investigating customer contacts.
17. Ensuring that all service delays, disruptions or cancellations are communicated to members of the public.
18. Liaising with the Councils fleet and maintenance team to ensure vehicle servicing and breakdowns are managed effectively.
Relevant industry experience in Bus Operations, knowledge and skills necessary to undertake the role.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
