Job Summary
As the Bar Manager, you will oversee the bar operations at our venue in East London, ensuring efficient service, exceptional staff performance, and innovative menu offerings. You will also oversee the kitchen operations and maintain excellent standards of food quality and safety by working closely with the chefs.
Your role is crucial in maintaining high standards of service, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving profitability.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Operational Excellence:
o Ensure all bars are well-stocked, prepared for service, and maintained clean throughout shifts.
o Supervise daily operations to guarantee efficiency and orderliness.
o Oversee orders and stock taking, wastage reduction and ensure GPs are at the target level.
2. Staff Leadership and Development:
o Train and motivate staff to excel in menu knowledge, cleanliness, and cocktail preparation.
o Lead by example, maintaining discipline and enforcing company policies through effective use of bar supervisors.
3. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure strict adherence to licensing laws and regulations.
o Conduct daily safety checks and maintain all necessary documentation.
4. End-of-Day Responsibilities:
o Manage opening and end-of-day duties including cashing up, balancing tills, and securing the venue as a key holder.
5. Collaboration for Exceptional Experiences:
o Work closely with the General Manager, Assistant Manager and Event Management team to create exceptional customer experiences and atmosphere. Coordinate efforts to align operational efficiency with innovative customer service initiatives. An example of this could be curating new cocktail offerings that align with our brand ethos to enhance the customer experience.
Requirements:
* At least one year of experience as a bar manager working within a busy bar, pub or restaurant environment.
* Excellent knowledge of the day-to-day running of the bar is essential for success in the role.
* You must be a Personal Licence holder.
Professional Skills:
* Proven ability to multitask and remain composed in high-pressure situations.
* Extensive knowledge of drinks, current drink trends, and bar management.
Personal Qualities:
* Ability to think critically and efficiently.
* Strong leadership qualities with the ability to negotiate effectively.
Commitment:
* Willingness to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
