Based primarily at the University of Greenwich Medway, this role will see you responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and building systems. You will ensure optimal operation of key campus facilities, delivering high standards of service in line with statutory compliance and best practice. What you’ll do:
1. Undertake the day to day operation, planned maintenance, fault finding and repair, periodic inspections and testing of the complete spectrum of services found in a building services environment.
2. Interpret technical schematics and drawings and utilise this information to perform planned preventative maintenance, rectification of faults and installation of new equipment.
3. Ensure all relevant Health and Safety, COSHH and Permit to Work Regulations are adhered to at all times.
4. Work to deadlines to ensure plant downtime is kept to a minimum and key performance indicators (KPI’s) are achieved.

What you bring:
1. Essential: Qualification in or Knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Building Services.
2. Time served Engineer with at least 5 years relevant post experience in a similar environment.
3. Ability to Multi-task across mechanical, electrical and building disciplines at a basic level.
4. Good organisational skills with the ability to organise others.
5. The ability to listen to others, understand and interpret their views.
6. Analyse and provide technical advice and solutions.
7. Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
8. Prioritize own workload and work under own initiative with minimal supervision.
9. Experience of working within a Building Maintenance Organisation.
10. Basic supervision of maintenance contractors.
11. A good understanding of interrelationship between assets and their maintenance and lifecycle requirements.
12. Understand user’s requirements and the concepts behind various maintenance regimes.
13. Working knowledge of H&S. Working knowledge of relevant current legislation and guidance.
14. Personal presentation must be of a high professional standard.
15. Strong sense of client focus.
16. Prepared to contribute to how the department operates.
17. Must hold UK driving licence.
18. Proof of eligibility to work in UK.
Desirable:
1. Educated to HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Building discipline.
2. Basic report writing skills.
3. Good leadership skills.
4. Experience with Personal Digital Assistant (PDA’s) systems.
5. Understanding of Statutory and Technical requirements for the operation and maintenance of plant and engineering services.
