Overview:
Due to ongoing growth of our Measured Term Contract (MTC), we are seeking a proactive and experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our team, taking a key leadership role in delivering minor electrical projects at Salisbury District Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a professional and dynamic environment, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of electrical works in a live healthcare setting.
You will act as the primary on-site lead for electrical operations, coordinating a dynamic team of 5 electricians with varying abilities and experience. Your leadership will directly impact project delivery, client satisfaction, and compliance with NHS and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Include
(but not limited to):
1. Supervise electrical installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities in line with current regulations and site-specific requirements.
2. Lead a team of electricians and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight.
3. Serve as the site lead for electrical matters, liaising directly with the Project Manager, Client representatives, and stakeholders.
4. Ensure all electrical work meets compliance standards, producing and reviewing certifications such as EICRs and completion certificates.
5. Maintain a safe working environment, upholding health and safety standards in a live hospital environment.
6. Support planning and delivery of projects by attending client meetings, contributing to progress reporting and risk management.
7. Manage site logistics including materials procurement, tooling, and asset control.
8. Prepare and review site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
9. Be flexible to support out-of-hours work when required by the project or client.
Typical Project Profile:
• Distribution board (DB) upgrades
• LV panel replacements
• Internal and external lighting improvements
• Electrical infrastructure and containment upgrades
• Compliance-driven rewiring works
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
1. Fully qualified Approved Electrician with:
o NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
o AM2 assessment
o 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
o City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 – Test and Inspection (Essential)
2. Proven experience supervising electrical teams on live sites.
3. Strong knowledge of BS 7671, compliance standards, and certification processes.
4. Demonstrable experience producing EICRs and identifying/reporting remedial actions.
5. Proven track record working on electrical projects in commercial or healthcare environments.
6. Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on team development and client engagement.
7. Able to work effectively in live, operational environments where health & safety is paramount.
8. UK Full Driving Licence (Essential).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
• Prior experience working in healthcare or hospital environments.
• Working knowledge of CDM regulations and HSE compliance in project delivery.
• Experience in Facilities Management or reactive maintenance contracts.
• Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS) installations.
• Ability to manage subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Competent in using digital tools and systems for managing documentation and certifications.
