Cornea, Anterior Segment and Keratorefractive Fellow - Sp Dr
The post holder will be part of the senior clinical team with a priority on the delivery of the service. You will take responsibility for your own training and development, while the Trust will offer you opportunities to further your knowledge and skills, and you will be assigned an Educational Supervisor. You will work in accordance with the GMC Good Medical Practice and Trust policies and engage in re-validation and appraisal.
Applicants should have completed their specialty training in Ophthalmology and fulfill all the competencies of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Specialty Training Curriculum in this respect.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide extensive clinical and surgical experience in the diagnosis and management of anterior segment disease (Corneal/External diseases and Refractive) and General Ophthalmology. You will be expected to participate in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with all types of anterior segment diseases primarily, but will also provide General Ophthalmology and undertake surgery on such cases both under supervision and independently.
You will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills and progress in the post, taking on an increasingly complex caseload. While service delivery is important, contributions to the wider trust as a medical leader in fields such as research, audit, outcomes, management, and teaching will be expected and supported by the department and QVH.
The ability to provide unsupervised cataract surgery to a competent level is non-negotiable and a fundamental requirement of the Fellowship.

Qualifications
* Successful completion of FRCOphth, or equivalent at time of application

* At least 5 years experience in ophthalmology
* Able to perform cataract surgery unsupervised

£52,530 to £82,400 a year plus on-call supplement.
