Summary
The vision of Church of England Birmingham (CofEB) is 'Growing churches at the heart of each community'. These churches will be diverse, welcoming, sustainable and vibrant; having a positive impact on their communities by demonstrating the love of God. Our projects are currently bringing about change and making a huge difference in our communities. They include new Christian communities, leadership formation and development projects, structural and governance projects, children and families engagement projects, creation of safe spaces for young people and much more. These projects are all led by passionate experts who are creative and engaged, but not always equipped with a project skill set.
We are looking to recruit a Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO). They will work with project leads to manage a number of projects to make sure they are well planned, financially robust and that they have everything in place to make the desired impact. The Project Manager will also work with other Project Managers, the Director for Strategic Transformation, the Transformation Programme Support Officer as well as other key staff, to ensure project reports feed into wider Governance structures and deliver on funder requirements.

The main elements the role will be to:
* Manage a series of projects so they are run well and achieve the desired impact.
* This will mean building strong relationships with project leads and key staff, holding their confidence and being able to persuade and influence.
* Being responsible for the creation and updating of project plans, budgets, stakeholder and risk management documents and processes.
* Envision, support, train and encourage local project leads.
* Be part of the wider culture change process to embed a proper project culture within the organization.
* Create reports and financial claims for funders.
* Support problem solving on projects to enable outcomes to be achieved.
* Support our strategic governance structures ensuring projects are fully integrated within this and create regular reporting.
* Help us to continue to shape our strategy and support with creating funding applications for the new projects we need.
* Support with the general day to day operations of the PMO.
* Create change requests for projects as and when required and support their progress through the relevant structures.
* Be an advocate for the faith, mission and ministry of The Church of England Birmingham and in particular our change programme.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people combined with passion and enthusiasm for growing the church across our region
* Ability to persuade and influence stakeholders
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, be able to assess priority and act accordingly
* A good understanding of Project Management processes & methodologies (plans, risk, communications, reporting, finance)
* Experience in managing projects. Preferably within a church or charity environment
* Due to the need for high-level advocacy of the faith, mission and ministry of The Church of England, there is an occupational requirement for the person to be a practicing Christian.
* Supportive of the Church of England and a willingness to work within its frameworks.
* Good verbal and written skills and able to communicate effectively.
* Confidence in using technology and social media.
* Good self-awareness and the ability to reflect.
* A friendly and warm persona with an ability to work well with a diverse range of people.
* A team player who will work to empower, support and encourage others.
* A commitment to uphold current safeguarding legislation and best practice.
* A catalyst for mission and change.
* Able to travel across the geographical area of the Birmingham Diocese.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The role is full-time, 35 hours per week for a fixed-term of 5 years (subject to funding)
Salary: £43, 050 per annum
Pension: 12% employer contribution into the Church Workers Pension Fund
Holidays: 25 days per annum, plus 8 Bank Holidays, plus 3 discretionary days
The employer is the Birmingham Diocesan Board of Finance (BDBF)
The role reports to the Director of Strategic Transformation
