Job Description Australian Capability Group Lead – 14 Months Secondment (Maternity Cover – UK Based) Full Time Derby, Raynesway We have an exciting opportunity for someone to support the UK based Australian Capability Engineering team on a 14 Month secondment starting in March 2025. The Australian Capability team have a broad range of accountabilities that deliver on Rolls-Royce Submarines involvement in the AUKUS trilateral agreement. This includes supporting Australia in developing nuclear engineering capabilities and delivering a class of nuclear-powered submarines. What you will be doing: This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to be accountable for leading a team of 6 Engineering Capability Leads, whilst in parallel contributing to and delivering a variety of technical outputs across 7 different workstreams. These workstreams include; Infrastructure & Logistics, Enablers, Sustainment, Build, People & Skills, Research & Technology and Technical Authority & Regulation. Working closely with the Engineering manager you will: Set strategic direction of the group and contribute to RRSLs overall AUKUS strategy. Support in the resolution of technical challenges and maintain governance of technical deliverables. Provide technical coaching for your team and a guiding hand in their development. Work closely with the Australian capability project team to ensure on time delivery of teams committed scope inclusive of both internal and external customer commitments. Be accountable for the team’s performance in delivering their commitments, through effective planning, seizing opportunities to eliminate waste & removing blockers. Drive and build on current agile project management tools deployed in the team such as DevOPs, Sprint planning, Retros & Daily stand ups. Be the first point of escalation for issues within the team and act as an empowered delegate for the engineering manager where required. Maintain a fully capable, engaged and resourced team. Technically represent the Australian capability team at trilateral external and internal customer forums as appropriate. Regularly lead without direct influence whilst engaging with the rest of the business Lead the team through an evolving and growing programme of work, being prepared to pivot and contribute to technical deliverables to meet customer demands.
