Owning clinical risk assessment activity for all products within the organisation as directed; this includes triaging safety incidents raised within a Safety Incident Management System Acting as the lead for safety work in the trust and completing safety work as documented in the Clinical Safety Plan Leading investigation, prioritisation and resolution of safety issues under direction of the CCIO / CMO Executing root cause analysis of safety incidents that have been raised in line with best guidance practice Helping / advising the organisation when performing corrective actions arising from Safety Incident Reports Managing safety incidents to minimise actual risk and commercial exposure The post holder must have knowledge / experience of: Clinical qualifications and background within the NHS / private healthcare Needs to be currently registered with clinical professional body Knowledge of standards and DCB0129 and 0160 requirements Has attended an accredited CSO course, or planning to do this NHS informatics experience Project Management skills, principles and practices System analysis, design, development, testing, release, support & maintenance best practice and lifecycles Whilst some activities may be delegated, the Clinical Safety Officer will retain overall responsibility for the following activities: Approval of the Clinical Risk Management Plan to confirm that the plan is appropriate and achievable in the context of the Health IT System deployment, modification and decommissioning Ensure that clinical risk management activities are completed in accordance with the Clinical Risk Management Plan Review and approval of all safety documentation including Clinical Safety Case Reports and Hazard Logs Review of evidence in the Clinical Risk Management File to ensure it is complete and supports the Clinical Safety Case Report Provide a recommendation to Senior Management regarding whether the any digital system is safe to deploy Raise any unacceptable safety risks to Senior Management.
