Purpose
Assure efficient manufacturing of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Responsibilities
1. Perform changeovers and complete changeover setup form.
2. Arrange assistance for changeover.
3. Responsible for the cleaning of blenders and other equipment for material changes.
4. Pre-blend and oversee the blending or mixing of resins in off-line as well as on-line.
5. Complete paperwork for production sheet, labor log, scrap sheet, and daily functional check sheet.
6. Ensure scrap gets weighed and recorded on shift paperwork or entered into MRP system.
7. Set all secondary equipment (printer, punches, venting, portable winders, etc.) and test functionality to assure proper setup and operation.
8. Watch for and react to stack light alerts.
9. Support and comply with safety and environmental guidelines.
10. Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain required product quality and/or as identified by Packer/Inspector.
11. Implement Berry incident protocol for medical assistance and apply first aid if trained.
12. Identify equipment shortfalls and complete maintenance request forms.
13. Close orders in system when complete.
14. Identify and strive to meet expected rates or standards of production and note correct variance code in system.
15. Collect, weigh, and document all scrap; enter in system.
16. Assure that repro is being run into product at predetermined.
17. Bill of Materials adjustments and corrections.
18. Work a 12-hour day, 3 & 4 days a week (84 hours every two weeks); weekend work is mandatory.
Secondary Responsibilities include:
1. Continue to check run rates.
2. Perform quality checks front to back (resins, silos, computer info., blender settings, etc.).
3. Ensure tools are in proper location.
4. Ensure auxiliary equipment is in working condition (press, vents, V-board, etc.).
5. Ensure the ink room is in proper order.
6. Clean around extruders and blenders.
7. Document any maintenance and safety concerns.
8. Perform all duties of a Utility.
Qualifications
1. Basic math skills.
2. Solid computer skills.
3. Good English skills; Bilingual a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese).
4. Experience with blown film extrusion.
5. Ability to troubleshoot & solve problems.
6. Ability to provide guidance and leadership.
7. Strong interpersonal skills.
8. Must be punctual; at line on time.
9. Ability to use and read a ruler, tape measure, and gauge caliper device.
10. Can read and follow written and verbal instructions & specifications in English.
Physical Demands
1. Regularly required to stand, walk and communicate.
2. Ability to see and hear.
3. Regularly required to move up to 50 lbs.
4. Regularly required to stretch and bend.
5. Frequently climb towers up to 45 feet high (cannot have fear of heights).
6. Regularly required to climb or balance.
