Job Summary
RECP Europe is a provider of real estate debt facilities to Tier 1 sponsors across Europe including the UK. Since inception in 2012, the team has participated in excess of C$28 billion of financing through senior, mezzanine, loan-on-loan, and development facilities. Recent transactions include acting as co-lead arranger for a £610MM term facility to support Blackstone’s acquisition of Village Hotel platform in the UK and being sole lender of a €150MM loan for Greystar’s development of a 561 unit built-to-rent scheme in Amsterdam (NL).
What is the opportunity?
RECP is looking for an Analyst / Associate to work alongside the team on origination, underwriting and structuring of real estate debt facilities across the UK and Europe. The role will provide an opportunity to work across all major asset classes and gain a deeper understanding of these markets from both a debt and equity point of view.
What will you do?
* Be involved in all stages of the origination process, including the initial screening of new transactions, due diligence, documentation and the loan closing process;
* Perform valuation analysis using various methodologies, including using DCF modelling and analysing comparables, as well as reviewing valuations prepared by third party valuation firms;
* Be responsible for building detailed financial models to evaluate real estate performance under various operating scenarios and to analyse the impact that various capital structures have on modelling outputs;
* Provide analytical, due diligence and transactional support on loan origination and new business opportunities as well as providing support in respect of the ongoing management and monitoring of existing transactions that have been executed by the RECP Europe team;
* Assist the team with the preparation of presentation materials for investment committee meetings - covering topics such as deal-level strategy and market overviews;
* Be involved in conducting product and sector research as well as being responsible for presenting this research to the global RECP teams and to our clients;
* Have the opportunity to attend industry events and presentations (i.e. from valuers, lawyers and other third party industry bodies), asset site tours on new and existing deals, as well as RECP Europe client and social events.
What do you need to succeed?
* BA or equivalent (2:1 or above) from an academically renowned university together with a proven track record of academic excellence at all levels;
* Experience in investment banking, real estate (valuation, advisory, capital markets or engineering), or a finance-focused business together with an ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in real estate, real estate finance and in the financial markets as a whole;
* Fluent English speaker, with other European languages being advantageous (but not necessary);
* Excellent quantitative, analytical, research and communication skills;
* Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with other digital skills being advantageous (Python, Tableau/Power BI, SQL, etc.);
* An inquisitive personality with a drive to continue learning;
* Strong teamwork mindset with an ability to work well with other team members at all levels and to provide guidance to other analysts and interns;
* An ability to manage multiple competing priorities and a willingness to assume a high level of responsibility.
