About this opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Finance Team as we seek to recruit for a Community Finance Officer post.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assessing the financial affairs of clients who are eligible for non-residential and residential services to determine their ability to contribute towards the cost of the care provided in line with the Care Act 2014 and Council Policy.
You will play an essential role, working closely with other services such as Client Affairs, Brokerage, Social Worker team etc and the right candidate will be responsible for financially assessing adults for social care services, for both residential and non-residential services and to provide effective, customer-focused, financial support services to vulnerable adults and their carers.
This is a fast-paced area, and no day will be the same. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are looking for a new challenge, enjoy working with people and want to make a difference to people’s lives.
You will be part of a dynamic Community Finance Team who work holistically with the wider council services and in return we offer flexible working arrangements, and training and development opportunities.
Key responsibilities
1. Gather sufficient, accurate and up to date information on client’s finances to provide best outcome for client.
2. Financially assess clients in the most suitable way possible in person or via post/email.
3. Ability to derive required information from details provided by client and if required investigate as appropriate.
4. Regularly communicate with various stakeholders about financial wellbeing of client and act on best interest for all parties.
5. Manage client debt and issue refunds as appropriate.

3. Strong verbal and written communication to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
