The Role:
As a Safe City Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and enforcing environmental health policies and legislation. You will use specialist technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard health and well-being standards. You will carry out routine or unplanned inspections to ensure compliance with legislation and take action to improve conditions through engagement, education, and enforcement.
Your responsibilities include resolving issues and risks highlighted by community complaints, taking enforcement action, initiating legal proceedings, and preparing evidence for court. You will promote the integration of environmental health principles across the Council and its partners.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you must hold a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant qualifications. Ideally, you will have regulatory experience in food safety, food standards, and health & safety. You should be registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).
You will possess strong communication skills, experience in managing cases, and a good understanding of legal proceedings. Your analytical skills will help assess appropriate interventions based on risks posed to public health.
