As the Head of Ethics, FOI, GDPR & Compliance, you will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our compliance strategies related to ethics, Freedom of Information (FOI), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other relevant legislative frameworks. You will play a crucial role in advising senior leadership, managing compliance risks, and ensuring that GBN maintains the highest standards of governance and regulatory adherence.
Day to day duties:
* Develop, implement, and lead strategies on ethics and freedom of information (FOI).
* Lead the organisation's corporate ethics and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) compliance programme to ensure the organisation's compliance with relevant legal and ethical compliance obligations.
* Design an appropriate ethics and ABC compliance programme aligned to our values and Code of Ethical Conduct. Use a risk-based approach to identify, prioritise, and implement effective solutions. Periodically, review, refine and improve the programme - keeping abreast of developments and adopting best practice when relevant to the organisation.
* Deliver and maintain appropriate ethics and ABC compliance policies, procedures and guidance. Support and advise on day-to-day ethics and ABC compliance queries and issues as well as providing expert guidance on big picture ethical topics and ABC risks.
* Develop and deliver appropriate ethics and ABC compliance training to raise awareness and win the hearts and minds of colleagues.
* Support investigations on ethics and ABC compliance issues across the organisation, including leading the organisation's speak up and whistleblowing process.
* Provide expert guidance to senior management and ensure these areas align with the organisation's objectives.
* Ensure all FOI requests are handled in compliance with legal requirements.
* Provide training and support to teams on the FOI Act and establish procedures for the timely and accurate response to requests.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of the organisation's obligations regarding ethical behaviour.
* Establish clear accountability frameworks, monitor adherence to policies, and implement corrective actions as needed to mitigate risks.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
* Strong understanding of ethics, compliance and FOI.
* Proven experience in ethics, compliance and FOI.
* Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing ethics frameworks.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cultural change within the organisation.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to lead and manage a team as demand develops over time.
* Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Familiarity with governance technologies and platforms, including content management systems and collaboration tools.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or post graduate diploma in Law or a related field is desirable.
* Demonstrable professional experience in ethics, compliance and FOI at a senior leadership level is essential.
* Professional certifications in ethics, compliance and/or FOI are desirable.
