Working with a variety of partners, the Enterprise and Communities service has a key role in guiding this regeneration towards sustainable development. Based within the Civic Centre Motherwell as our Senior Housing Strategy and Policy Officer, you will report to the Housing Strategy Manager and work as part of the Business Development and Support Team within the Housing Service to develop and oversee the implementation of various housing policies and strategies and related policy areas. This will include leading the review of the council’s housing allocation policy and ongoing development of the policy to ensure it remains transparent, fair and effective in prioritizing needs. You will also have a lead role in the development and implementation of the council’s Local Housing Strategy in partnership with other services and agencies. This will involve developing the council’s strategic approach to addressing housing needs across tenure by improving existing pathways and developing new initiatives. You will be involved in wide range of project developments that contribute to ensuring an appropriate range of local housing options, related services and supports are available to help people to realise their housing aspirations and create sustainable local communities. You will work in partnership with key stakeholders, including planning, health and social care services, education, wider housing providers, the community and voluntary sector, the Scottish Government and external bodies to ensure consistency and alignment with our shared strategic priorities. You will also co-ordinate the assessment of housing needs in North Lanarkshire area and contribute to wider service and corporate policy development. Educated to HND/degree/SVQ4 level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you will have significant experience within a housing or development field and in project management. Experience of partnership working, developing strategies and managing and reviewing performance is essential along with a sound knowledge of housing policy and legislation. You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of, identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. With excellent financial management skills, organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information, produce reports and present information in public forums. A Diploma in Housing Studies, experience of housing needs’ assessment and leadership/management qualification are desirable.
