This role is to provide temporary maternity leave cover for a 12 month period.
Candidates should have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, be a methodical and process orientated worker and have good attention to detail.
Candidates will be responsible for assisting the Mental Health Act (MHA) Administrators and MHA co-ordinators in processing the MHA documentation and liaising with colleagues within all 3 of the MHA Offices of the Trust.
They will work as part of the MHA team, supporting the MHA Administrators and MHA co-ordinators and maintaining high standards in the administration of the MHA 1983 for patients within the Trust’s services.
Candidates should have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, be a methodical and process orientated worker and have good attention to detail.
The main duties of the role are to:
1. process and input the MHA data into the Trust’s electronic patient record (SystmOne) complying with all data protection guidance and MHA processes.
2. notify, in writing, all the relevant people in respect of a detention under the MHA including, where consent is given, the patients nearest relative.
3. process and input the appeals to the Hospital Managers, collating reports and submitting them within the appropriate timeframes.
4. process and input the appeals to the Mental Health First Tier Tribunals Service (MHT), collating reports and submitting them within the appropriate timeframes.
5. highlight to the MHA Administrator when these timeframes might not be met to ensure that the Trust can take remedial action to ensure compliance with the MHA.
6. scan and upload into SystmOne the MHA detention papers for patients.
7. file all detention papers.
8. ensure that the Trust and the wards have adequate supplies of all the necessary legal documents / paperwork e.g., renewal and detention forms to comply with applications under the MHA 1983.
