Summary of the Primary role:
The Head of Product Management – EMIS is responsible for identifying, satisfying and commercialising business opportunities for EMIS product line globally, managing a team of product managers in charge of regional and persona-based product strategies.
Accountable for EMIS products line revenue, the PM will be expected to get a comprehensive understanding of user workflows and content/functionality needs and to assess competitive offerings in the main market spaces to target revenue opportunities.
This role is responsible for defining and prioritising overall product requirements, collaborating with content, product development and technology teams to ensure EMIS meet and exceed client and competitive requirements.
They will ensure sales and support staff receive the necessary product knowledge and materials to enable them to perform their roles and achieve the sales targets required to meet your EMIS’s revenue objectives. This role may also require development and implementation of product training and roll-out strategies, with appropriate marketing and collateral support.
The Head of Product Management should possess excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills to establish and maintain a positive and productive “trusted advisor” dialogue with internal staff while serving as the primary point of contact for partners on all product-specific topics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and document a global and regional product strategies for EMIS which are consistent with ISI goals for this product and meets defined revenue targets. This entails determining the requirements necessary to meet and exceed ISI and customer expectations in terms of margin, price, quality, capability and competitor positioning for the EMIS products line in the main markets. This determination will be derived through the collaboration with product managers and product teams, research of internal and external customers, the analysis of current and historical trends and a detailed understanding of competitor positioning.
2. Coordinate the systematic collection, documentation and analysis of customer and prospect feedback by product, database, sales and marketing teams and, where appropriate, ensure that this feedback is reflected in future product enhancements and releases.
3. Establish and maintain regular, consistent and direct customer contact sufficient to ensure an intimate knowledge of user workflow, needs, trends and perceptions and sufficient to meet needs specified by ISI management.
4. Get a comprehensive understanding of user workflow, content/functionality needs and the competitive offerings. Proactively monitor, review and document these needs and industry trends on an ongoing basis.
5. Collaborate with product development teams and product managers to identify key functionalities required by EMIS users. Document these needs, prepare the proposal and specifications. Together with the appropriate ISI development groups or team members, develop business models to build or acquire these components for the product.
6. Coordinate all efforts required to identify content needs of key user personas in the EMIS target markets. This includes content created internally or provided by a third party.Proactively monitor, review and document these needs on an ongoing basis.
7. Collaborate with content licensing and the editorial teams in developing content strategies to satisfy content needs of key user personas in the EMIS target markets. Work with the product managers in developing and executing regional and in-country strategies.
8. Ensure product managers comply with all guidelines and best practices defined by the Content Licensing team for all issues related to third party data provider (i.e. contracts negotiation, integration of content/data to the platform, delivery of royalties’ statements, and follow through payment of invoices received, between other).
9. Facilitate the collaboration of PMs and ISI internal in order to ensure that EMIS products line meets clients’ expectations within your region in terms of quality of content/data, display standards, timeliness of updates and comprehensiveness of coverage.
10. Serve as primary EMIS product contact for clients, distributors and partners, sales and support organizations. This will include positioning the EMIS products line from a value proposition perspective and working with marketing and sales to ensure the correct message is created and delivered to the appropriate audience.
11. Project manage the development, roll-out, positioning and communication of product releases.
12. Perform product demonstrations, as necessary, at trade shows, industry events and client/prospect/partners visits.
13. Communicate EMIS product strategy, positioning, plans, enhancements, timelines and roll-out information to regional ISI team on a timely, consistent and regular basis.
14. Gather competitive intelligence, both internally and through external channels, package the information in an actionable context for the regional sales or support teams, and facilitate the distribution of the information in order to enhance business development efforts.
15. Produce and deliver monthly KPIs report, as requested, which include EMIS product revenue, new sales, cancellation and usage trend figures, as well as other information requested.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
* Education: A suitable candidate will have a degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or an equivalent in working experience.
* Experience: The candidate must have over 5 years of experience in product management, including working experience with business information products or in the field of economics.
* Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are a must for this position. We are looking for a product manager with strong marketing and commercial skills that could effectively collaborate with marketing teams in refining the product positioning across markets and segments and be able to develop and execute thorough, commercially-sound business plans.
* Collaboration: The role will be responsible for defining the product roadmap and providing strategic direction, leadership, and guidance to the teams working on different product initiatives. Collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders will be critical to drive the success of the company's product portfolio.
* Strong organisational skills, to manage priorities and numerous projects at once.
* Good understanding of Lean principles and Agile methodologies.
