Ward Sister/Charge Nurse - Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation
* Meet the needs of patients and their families to achieve improved health outcomes and promote health and wellbeing while demonstrating care, compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment. Care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, is patient/client centred, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based, promoting independence.
* Responsible for coordinating the work of the team, influencing clinical decisions, and monitoring the quality of patient care provided through expert clinical knowledge relevant to own field of practice.
* Manage a caseload/named nurse.
* Supervise junior members of staff and students on placements.
* Develop and maintain a culture of service improvement that promotes quality and safety.
* In line with the NMC code, all registered nurses are required to prioritize people, practice effectively, preserve safety, and promote professionalism and trust.
Main duties of the job
Assess patient/client, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate care programs, and carry out nursing procedures to achieve the best health outcomes for patients/clients/families. Actively promote health and wellbeing. Evaluate clinical outcomes and report variances to clinical pathways, protocols, or best practice guidelines. Contribute to effective discharge planning and/or referral processes to healthcare providers and support agencies. Apply diagnostic reasoning and professional judgment to nursing practice. Manage daily care of patients/clients and, when required, manage care in the absence of senior colleagues. Foster inquiry and critical thinking among colleagues to advance nursing practice and patient/client care. Accurately document assessments of patients/clients' health status, diagnosis, and response to interventions and treatments. Effectively manage clinical care and area through the implementation of clearly defined policies and procedures. Educate and provide information to patients/clients/families to improve knowledge of illness, self-management, prevention of complications, and promotion of recovery. Role model safe nursing practice and report poor practice when observed. Practice in accordance with legal, ethical, culturally safe, and professional standards, including the Code of practice.
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organization, bringing together all community, mental health, and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by the end of 2024.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc Nursing or RN currently registered with NMC.
* Post-registration, specialist training relevant to specialty.
* Teaching Qualification, e.g., ENB 998 or equivalent.
* Practice assessor/supervisor.
Experience
* Experienced in assessing and developing patient care plans.
* Experienced in developing and delivering care and clinical interventions to patients.
* Experience of MDT working.
* Experience of teaching, training, and supervision/assessing junior staff and students.
* Evidence of recent CPD.
* Evidence of developing policy and guidelines contributing to management of resources.
Additional Criteria
* Clinically competent at Band 6 level.
* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, ability to receive and provide complex information.
* Ability to work autonomously; prioritize workload, instruct and direct others.
* Teaching, supervision, and assessing skills.
* Dexterity required for intravenous and intramuscular injections, inserting catheters, setting up syringe drivers, removal of sutures, wound management.
* Ability to assess patients/clients and develop/implement care programs.
* Ability to work as part of a team and support the development of others.
* Frequent requirement for physical effort maneuvering patients and moving equipment.
* Frequent need to manage emotional issues.
* Ability to adapt to change within work situations.
* Frequent requirement to manage unpleasant working conditions.

£37,338 to £44,962 a year. Please note for part-time hours, the salary will be pro rata.
