Job Description
Are you more in the middle than Malcom? (Google it if you're Gen-Z)
Do you pine to deliver fine design?
Are you ready to run in an agency with a quicker pace than a cheetah, on a treadmill, in running shoes?
We’re playing our own game of ‘design’ Where’s Wally, searching through crowds for a rarely spotted Middle Weight Graphic Designer (preferably in red and white stripes).
This illusive person should be less of a wally, and more of a creative bright spark, wheeling along a suitcase full of pro-active attitude. They should have refined and honed their skills in a design-based job for at least 2 years, building brilliant concepts by day and reading design books, by torch light, at night.
We’re looking for a designer in a bit of a mid-life crisis. They will probably have landed themselves in a design jungle they can’t quite seem to get out of, waiting for a metaphorical helicopter to lift them out of their dier situation. Well, On Poynt has seen that ‘SOS’ built out of rocks on the beach, and we’re sending Harry down on a rope to bring you to safety.
What we require from you?
* You will need to have found a temporary house as a design guru for at least 2 years, but feel like you need an upgrade to a place you are proud to call home.
* We need you to know your way around the Adobe Suite, blindfolded, and your hands tied behind your back. (this will be tested…)
* We need you to have a backpack full of graphic design your mum wants to put on her fridge.
* We need you to be a social butterfly, we ain’t after no creepy crawly pre-evolution caterpillar.
* We need you to have a design degree. N.B. A poster you made in Mrs Cartwright’s year 2 class on Microsoft Publisher is not a design degree.
Who we are
On Poynt Creative, a young but award-winning design agency, thrives on out-the-box thinking and pushing the boundaries of what a creative agency provides. We believe in transforming brands with visually captivating graphics and strategic storytelling. As we continue to expand our humming agency, we are looking to bolster our design capacity, primarily so Dan can put more time into growing the business and Mia can have a friend to sit next to in the office.
We work with companies like Gymshark, Mountain Warehouse & Karma Drinks to name a few – you can check out the rest at onpoyntcreative.com or our Portfolio newspaper which can be found at all good newsagents*.
*this is a lie, but they are dotted all around Leicester.
We are also super-duper proud of our culture, we are definitely the friendliest team in all of the country (maybe even the world). We do social things together, sometimes more than once a week. The most important thing you can bring to the table is a personality that fits into the team like a jigsaw puzzle. Show us you’re a lovely person, a team player and can bring a great attitude to work on a grey Monday morning in Leicester.
What skills do you need?
* An expert in the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and After Effects. Experience with Figma or Webflow would be the icing on the cake.
* Ability to generate conceptual ideas and take them, through judges houses, all the way to final stages and execution.
* Able to create and set up print-ready artwork. (Dan is still shocked by how many Graphic Designers don’t know how to put trim and bleed on artwork!)
* Experience working and setting up digital artwork – like on screens and that.
* Awareness of the latest design trends, formats and how to make them appropriate for our wide-ranging client base, maybe you once read a design magazine, or went to the Tate with your parents? Solid.
* A drive to progress with the company, there will be opportunities to grow big and string with On Poynt, and we like people that matches our ambition.
* Teamwork makes the dreamwork - Able to work and collaborate with clients and other creatives to create the scoped work.
* Ability to manage your own workload whilst working on multiple, small tasks, but also bigger more involved design tasks.
What experience do you need?
* 2 years of experience in a Graphic Design related role, in a multi-disciplined agency or in-house environment, agency is an advantage – but we came out of corporate so - no biggy.
* A portfolio that demonstrates brilliant graphic projects, if you have some in branding that would be just swell.
* A 2:1 or above in an applicable design-related subject. Taylor Swift studies is not a design related degree.
* This job is an in-person role. You will be required to be in the office every day, especially in the early stages.
