The Southampton Acute and Crisis Psychology Team is excited to be offering a fixed term creative therapist post, and we are seeking to recruit a qualified music therapist, drama therapist, or art psychotherapist to join our team. Antelope House is a modern acute mental health inpatient and psychiatric intensive care unit, as well as housing the Southampton Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). The Acute and Crisis Psychology Team offers high quality, recovery focused care to adults with a range of mental health needs, across inpatient and crisis services. We work transdiagnostically with a range of presentations, including psychosis, trauma, and relational difficulties. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting the psychological wellbeing of people with complex emotional needs and/or severe mental illness. You will understand how to provide innovative, evidence-based group and individual creative therapies assessment and treatment programmes (in your chosen modality), adapted to work within an acute and crisis setting. Alongside the direct therapeutic work, you will be contributing to establishing a high-quality creative therapies provision within the inpatient and crisis service and working to promote the value of creative therapies for those in acute distress. Although the post is advertised as full-time, we would also welcome applications from those looking for part-time hours, job share, or flexible working.Main duties of the job
* Assessing service users in the inpatient and crisis services for art/music/drama therapy (dependent on chosen modality).
* Formulating and delivering creative therapy treatment, in both individual and group formats.
* Evaluating the effectiveness of creative therapy interventions within the acute and crisis services, contributing or leading on aspects of service development, undertaking audit and research, providing training to others as appropriate and needed.
* To exercise autonomous professional judgement and responsibility for the therapeutic intervention including assessment, formulation, intervention, discharge, effective communication of these plans with referrers and other multi-agency professionals involved in the care of the service user.
* To provide specialist therapeutic advice, guidance, and consultation to colleagues.
* To provide letters and reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of service users.
* To provide and receive information in a skilled and sensitive manner using high levels of interpersonal skills.
* To participate in MDT meetings/discussions providing a therapeutic perspective as appropriate.
