As Civil Project Engineer you will be joining a world-leading engineering and project management consultancy. A truly global organisation, the Belfast office has been appointed to assist in the delivery of a number of civil construction projects in Northern Ireland with a major client.
As Civil Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, technical and quality support for the on-site phase on the delivery of major works in a wide range of civil engineering projects.
The following reflects typical duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive description of all tasks:
1. Plan and coordinate project construction works interfaces, including Weekly Operating Notice planning for works on the railway.
2. Provide representation at internal and external planning and other stakeholder meetings.
3. Review construction method proposals, methodologies and risk assessments.
4. Undertake ad-hoc site visits to inspect and coordinate work sites for compliance with all requirements in the contract – quality, safety and environment.
5. Undertake the role of NEC4 Contract Site Supervisor where required, typically during elements of major works and planned blockades.
6. Prepare weekly reports, including details of works impacting on schedule, quality, cost implications, H&S and identified risks and issues.
7. Escalate issues and risks to Project/Contract Manager, including the impact of change and the evaluation of compensation events.
8. Advise the Project Manager or Contract Manager of issues impacting costs, technical, schedule or H&S and Environment.
9. Ensure appropriate consideration is given to the organisation’s equality duties, as well as specific commitments associated with your job role.
To be considered for this role you will have:
10. Possess a construction-related degree, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Civil Engineering Construction.
11. Or alternatively, possess a minimum of a HNC/HND in construction, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil engineering construction.
12. Possess proven on-site experience in civil engineering/construction works.
13. Knowledge of managing construction safety.
14. Experience in planning and managing construction works contracts.
15. Strong planning and organisational skills across a range of complex activities.
16. Experience using MS Word, Excel and Outlook, able to compile and present project reports.
17. Experience of NEC3/NEC4 contracts is highly desirable.
18. Experience in a railway infrastructure environment is highly desirable.
19. Experience of working in a safety-critical environment is h ighly desirable.
You will also have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to act within a team at all times.
