Description of role: Yourgene Health, part of the Novacyt Group, are recruiting for a Laboratory Manager/Coordinator based at Manchester Science Park. The Laboratory Manager/Coordinator will provide support to product development teams by coordinating the day to day running of the research and development laboratories. Overall responsibility: The Laboratory Manager will provide support to product development teams, ensuring organisation of the laboratory areas and key processes and equipment. Key areas of responsibility: Work collaboratively with other scientists to create and implement processes designed to maintain/improve laboratory productivity Work with/coordination of R&D scientists to ensure laboratory areas are maintained to a high standard Review of existing laboratory processes with a view to improvement Implementation of LEAN processes Liaise with R&D scientists to ensure implementation of equipment maintenance rotas Coordination of processes designed to maintain/improve the condition of the product development laboratory spaces Organisation of required laboratory maintenance Liaise with Facilities to coordinate repairs to laboratory areas as needed Liaise with Health and Safety to ensure safe working practices are adhered to/ meet Health and Safety requirements Preparation of COSHH and risk assessments Implementation/monitoring of effective waste disposal processes Work with other team members in administration of temperature monitoring systems Ownership of equipment management in the product development laboratories Equipment procurement Work with Quality Assurance in the regular review and maintenance of internal equipment/asset database to ensure continued availability of key equipment Liaising with external contractors/contacts to organise equipment installation, maintenance and repair Timely review of equipment maintenance records Assist R&D team members with equipment validation when needed Reagent and consumable inventory management and procurement Create, maintain and improve laboratory SOPs Ensure adequate record keeping Qualifications, Skills and Abilities: Degree or further degree (or equivalent) in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics Typically 5 years of relevant experience working in an ISO accredited laboratory (experience of laboratory management is preferable) Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures Experience preparing COSHH forms and process risk assessments Capable of reviewing/analysing data Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful Good organisational and record keeping skills Ability to multitask Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite Closing Date: Sunday 10th November, 2024 Yourgene Health is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce.
