We currently have the opportunity for an engaged, forward-thinking, proactive doctor to join our high-energy team, who can add their own unique value to our already diverse team in the Emergency Department at the St. Peters site.
We rapidly expanded our EM Consultant workforce in 2023. It is a really exciting time to join us. Our aim is to provide excellence in clinical care and strive continuously for service development.
The Emergency Department at St Peters’ is the largest and busiest department in Surrey, operating a 24-hour service and seeing over 110,000 patients a year.
Depending upon your seniority, either 80% or 90% of the post is clinical, reflecting our offer to higher trainees. You will spend time working amongst your middle grade colleagues, under the oversight of the EM Consultant Team, and supporting the Foundation Year Two trainees.
Informal visits to our Emergency Department are welcome so you can come and meet us and the way we deliver clinical care.
1. To be responsible for the initial assessment and care of the patients under the supervision of the Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC).
2. To support the Emergency Physician in Charge at night with the ability to manage resources appropriately to ensure patient safety and escalate to Consultant on Call if required.
3. To provide timely and appropriate guidance to the junior Emergency Department medical staff.
4. To support nursing and other clinical colleagues in the delivery of high-quality emergency care.
5. To assist in developing and implementing the clinical protocols of care for all conditions/presentations.
6. To participate in the educational and research activities of the Emergency Department at St. Peter’s Hospital.
7. To support the delivery of key performance objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
Successful candidates need to hold MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, with evidence of 12 months experience in Emergency Medicine (6 months of which working in an Emergency Department in the UK). Candidates will be eligible for full registration with the GMC and hold a current license to practice. Candidates will need to have evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice and will need to have passed their MRCEM and Life Support Courses.
The Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week; therefore, successful candidates need to be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, lates, twilights, and nights. #J-18808-Ljbffr
