Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Pharma Projects
Vertical Recruitment are working closely with a leading M+E Contractor that delivers bespoke, end–to–end solutions within the Pharma, Medical Technology, and Healthcare sectors. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a pivotal part of the senior team, ensuring technical excellence and commercial success in every project.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Leading and inspiring a multidisciplinary design team to drive innovation and excellence.
2. Overseeing the development of design solutions that align with programme and budget requirements.
3. Acting as the primary client contact until the construction team is appointed and fostering strong collaborations with consultants.
4. Ensuring designs are fully compliant with required details at each stage, proactively advising Directors on challenges.
5. Managing client change requests effectively, including cost and timeline considerations.
6. Leading coordination meetings and advocating for the use of innovative tools like Revizto and M–Files.
7. Clearly communicating project progress and design details across all teams.
8. Ensuring timely distribution of high–quality design information and securing client approvals before proceeding to the next stage.
9. Conducting buildability reviews and capturing decisions that enhance efficiency and value.
10. Understanding CDM tasks and working with the Principal Designer Representative to uphold safety standards.
11. Participating in project reviews to showcase compliance and celebrate successes.
12. Supporting the development of junior engineers while maintaining records of competencies.
13. Ensuring that final design solutions are technically sound, compliant, and aligned with client and legislative requirements.
About You
1. A proven track record as a Design Engineer
2. Strong knowledge of construction solutions and finishes for pharmaceutical and healthcare facilities.
3. Experience creating commercial designs and providing innovative solutions.
4. A qualification in Building Studies, ideally at least HNC level.
5. An understanding of Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, and Public Health Design.
6. Proficiency in REVIT, Revizto, IES, M–Files, and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
7. Experience designing and coordinating turnkey projects, including Construction, HVAC, Mechanical, and Electrical works in pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratory, and cleanroom environments.
8. Familiarity with ISO19650 (UK BIM Framework), ISO9001:2015 quality systems, and CDM regulations.
9. Strong client liaison and communication skills.
