Weare looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to work in a busy andgrowing day surgery environment within an extremely supportive team.
Theunit takes various surgical specialties such as general surgery, urology,gynaecology, orthopaedics and vascular surgery.
Wehave also expanded care into interventional radiology.
The unit currently has 27 mixed chairs and trolley spaces in useat any one time which are reused over the day to maximise the volume ofpatients that come through our unit.
Currentlythe hours will be split from Monday to Friday anytime between 7am and 8pm. Youwill be required to work a mix of shift patterns and be flexible. Weekendworking may be something that will occur in our future alongside an extensionto current opening times.
Main duties of the job
To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines and frameworks including the 6 Cs as a named nurse for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for the following
To ensure flow throughout the unit on a daily basis happens at an optimum level to ensure maximum capacity
The assessment of care and health education needs.
The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
To gain or have experience and skills in the following
Clinical Practice
Facilitation and teaching
Management
To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
To participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator, mentor, preceptor and role model to less experienced staff.
To provide supervision, support and education to unqualified staff and students.

Resource Management Responsibilities
To develop and maintain an awareness of budgeting,exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment.
To assist in the assessment and monitoring of staffingrequirements and report problems to the appropriate manager.
In the absence of a more senior member of staff and as partof the individuals development programme, the post holder, with support, willbe able to undertake clinical and shift management within the department.

Experience

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse on sub part 1 of the professional register
* Evidence of continuing education for more experienced Band 5 nurses in speciality
* NMC recognised Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post
* Teaching and Assessing qualification
* ECGs
* IV drug administration
* Cannulation
