Financial & Operational SFBP - Community Diagnostic Centre
An exciting fixed term opportunity has arisen at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust for a part time Financial & Operational Lead for the Trust's newly opened Community Diagnostic Centre.
This role will support the Organisation in the delivery of a financially sustainable Community Diagnostic Centre by working closely with the operational team and partner Organisations in the delivery of first class financial expertise. It will also be the finance lead for the ongoing development of the Community Diagnostic Centre following national approval of the next phase of its development.
Candidates who have excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills alongside expert knowledge and experience of Community Diagnostics Centres would be ideally suited for this post.
This opportunity is a 10 month fixed term up to March 2026 in recognition of the infancy of Community Diagnostic Centres.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to:
1. Be the financial lead for the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) working in conjunction with operational teams to ensure a financially sustainable clinical model.
2. Lead on the production of a financial risk and reward agreement with partner Organisations working in conjunction with operational teams.
3. Develop financial systems and control processes in conjunction with operational teams that ensure potential income is identified accurately and recovered within the rules provided for CDCs.
4. Develop financial systems and control processes in conjunction with operational teams that ensure all costs are identified accurately.
5. Work with operational teams to agree financial systems and control totals to support the monitoring of financial and performance metrics.
6. Take a coordinating role in the provision of all financial and performance information relating to the CDC, as well as forecasting, providing timely and accurate information and advice to facilitate the effective monitoring and management of the financial and performance position and to support the decision-making process.
7. Support the process for agreeing and monitoring contracts with ICBs and other commissioners through the production of relevant activity and financial schedules within monthly timetables.
About us
The post holder will be a stand-alone post reporting to the Trust's Assistant Director of Finance - Strategic Finance but also working closely with the Operational Director Clinical Support & Screening. The Strategic Finance team operate an agile working model of working from home and the hospital site.

This role requires excellent leadership qualities and strong communication skills in order to support the delivery of a financially sustainable Community Diagnostic Centre. The post holder should have expert knowledge of Community Diagnostic Centre policy with significant NHS senior level financial or operational experience. The post holder should possess excellent problem-solving, planning and organisation skills in order to meet the essential criteria for the role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional accountancy qualification (CCAB) (live or historic)
* Significant post qualification experience either financial or operational management within the NHS
Experience
* Experience in the use of computerised general ledger
* Excellent IT Skills with extensive experience in the use of spreadsheets and databases
* Experience of using PowerPoint and other presentation packages
* Experience in the use of Oracle Cloud general ledger
Knowledge
* Expert knowledge of Community Diagnostic Centre Operational and Funding Policy
