Lead Pharmacy Technician – Hospital Operations

Are you a motivated and forward-thinking registered Pharmacy Technician looking for a unique opportunity? Then join the friendly pharmacy department, Wrexham Maelor Hospital in BCUHB East, in the role of Lead Pharmacy Technician - Hospital Operations.
You will play a key role in developing the pharmacy service, and pharmacy workforce in line with our strategic vision to ensure we are able to provide the best care possible to the patients of North East Wales. You will be part of the senior pharmacy management team and will be responsible for reviewing current processes and implementing change where needed, to ensure the smooth running of the pharmacy department.
In this innovative position, you will collaborate with diverse teams on cutting-edge projects involving systems like the implementation of electronic prescribing and the pharmacy prescription collection locker.
The successful candidate will be driven to introduce new ways of working to optimise pharmacy procurement, improve medication safety, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulators.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Interviews will take place week commencing 24th March 2025.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage compliance with the Home Office Controlled Drug licence and ensure compliance with the Wholesale Dealing licence.
2. Ensure all operational rotas are completed.
3. Attend external meetings including the robot user group, All Wales Wellsky user group.
4. Manage investigations into dispensing or supply incidents.
5. Ensure all maintenance contracts are reviewed and up to date working in conjunction with the Pharmacy Business Manager.
6. Manage health and safety risk assessments and queries.
7. Complete and maintain risks on the health board risk register associated with Hospital Operations.
8. Line management of the Dispensary Senior Pharmacy Technicians and Stores Supervisor.
9. Deputise for the Chief Pharmacy Technician and the Lead Pharmacy Technician - Procurement.
10. Manage the daily stock check process and investigations.
11. Maintain an overview of annual leave for all pharmacy support staff.
12. Ensure all products provided that are over-labelled or prepacked meet the required governance arrangements and oversee in-house production.
13. Manage KPI's for hospital operations services.
14. Provide assurance that the hospital operations services meet the required governance frameworks.

Qualifications
* NVQ/QCF level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
* ILM Management Qualification Level 4 or equivalent.
* QCF Work Based Assessor.
Experience
* A substantial level of post qualification experience in pharmacy services.
* Experience of managing pharmacy team(s).
* Experience in a broad range of pharmacy services.
Skills
* Good verbal and written communication.
* Negotiation Skills.
* Experience of managing conflict.
* Ability to prioritise and delegate.
* Evidence of successful introduction and management of change.
