IT Manager
What you'll need to succeed
Hays are working with a secondary school to support finding an IT Manager. We are seeking a passionate IT professional. This role is distinct from traditional school network support, focusing on enabling users to fully leverage Microsoft 365 (M365) capabilities. The primary goal is to standardise and simplify IT systems and services, ensuring consistent support for learners across all locations and devices while complying with statutory and advisory obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Identify, communicate, and implement IT strategies, including refresh cycles, to align with the school's goals.
* System Standardisation: Ensure all systems and processes adhere to the principles of Standardise, Simplify, Consistency, and Compliance (2S2C).
* Technical Authority: Serve as the lead on all IT-related matters.
General Duties:
* Develop and maintain the M365 infrastructure, including Teams, SharePoint, Forms, and OneDrive.
* Perform technical tasks on SharePoint, such as creating document libraries, lists, flows, new sites, and setting permissions.
* Manage network infrastructure, including servers, switches, VLANs, UPS, and cabling.
* Oversee DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
* Support long-term IT strategies, including participation in the steering group for the Trust's Single Central Enterprise Platform (SCEP).
* Order and install equipment, hardware, and software.
* Maintain and repair systems at all levels.
* Create, update, and maintain user accounts.
* Operate, develop, and maintain email systems (Exchange Online).
* Maintain school systems, install updates, and perform backups (Internet access, 3CX, InVentry, PaperCut, Smoothwall, Impero, RDS, Teams, etc.).
* Maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure (HP, Cisco switches, WMS).
* Liaise with printing support companies to maintain school printers and photocopiers.
* Develop and maintain the school's virtualized network server infrastructure (Hyper-V).
* Support IT projects, such as switch installation, file server migration, and Exchange email system migration to the cloud.
* Update and maintain the school's image deployment solution (SCCM).
* Develop and maintain the school's website and social media platforms.
* Support the IT Manager with ICT audits and disaster recovery plans.
* Design and develop IT training documentation.
* Monitor and improve network performance, investigate outages, and report on usage.
* Maintain and utilise the school's CCTV system, including viewing and downloading footage.
* Work with DSLs to embed and develop digital safety across the school, checking safeguarding alerts and investigating URLs.
* Maintain a list of school policies on the external website and SharePoint.
Support for the School:
* Participate fully in school life, supporting its vision and ethos.
* Invigilate examinations.
* Accompany teaching staff and students on educational visits.
* Undertake administrative duties as requested.
* Participate in academy-based meetings and training activities.
* Support after-school events, such as parents' evenings, as required.
* Contribute to the overall aims and work of the Academy Trust.
Details:
* Work hours: Full-time (36.5 hours), Monday to Friday, all year, permanent contract.
* Working pattern: Mon – Fri 8:00 – 16:00.
* Salary: £40,000 - £45,000.
