Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity with a fast-growing UK media organisation for a Senior Broadcast Engineer to join their team.
About the Role
As a Senior Broadcast Engineer, you will play a pivotal role ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of cutting-edge broadcast systems and equipment. You will take ownership of complex technical issues, seeing them through to full resolution, and act as a mentor to junior engineers—sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the response to and resolution of technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to live broadcasts.
2. Provide both remote and on-site technical support for broadcast equipment, including troubleshooting hardware and software in real time.
3. Take ownership of technical incidents and follow through until complete resolution.
4. Mentor and support junior engineers, encouraging professional growth and knowledge sharing.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to resolve technical and workflow challenges efficiently.
6. Conduct routine and preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability.
7. Participate in project work and contribute to the introduction of new technologies and initiatives.
8. Maintain thorough documentation of support requests, solutions, and equipment configurations.
9. Be available for on-call support during critical broadcasts or system failures.
Skills & Experience
1. Proven experience as a Broadcast Engineer in a live television environment.
2. Strong understanding of a range of broadcast production systems and equipment covering video, audio, intercom, cameras, and record/playback systems.
3. Hands-on experience with broadcast graphics systems and NDI workflows is highly desirable.
4. Solid knowledge of IP networking and its application in broadcast environments.
5. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in time-critical situations and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
7. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and early and late finishes (no overnights).
8. A proactive, can-do attitude and a commitment to high standards of professionalism and integrity.
