What will you be doing?
Be a first point of call for escalations to any customer order requests that cannot be met and working with the Lead Short Term Planning Manager to resolve these issues whilst protecting DB Cargo's interests.
Ensure the structure and workload allocation of the teams is in accordance with the requirements set out in the Planning Process and achievement of the teams KPIs.
Lead the team to optimise wagon, traincrew and locomotive utilisation that is both cost effective and efficient.
Work closely with Network Rail on a weekly basis to retrieve the most efficient paths according to our customers’ demands.
Collaborate with IT to test new train planning and diagramming system features and to carry out these custom releases as well as acting as the SME for various projects within DBC.
Develop and agree productivity improvements on key metrics and drive the necessary focus to achieve continuous improvements in these areas.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate who has excellent communication skills with both internal colleagues and third parties, as well as excellent organisational skills and the ability to work towards deadlines.
A meticulous key for detail is needed, as well as the ability to identify efficiencies and challenge the norm.
It is desirable for the successful candidate to demonstrate a strong understanding of logistics planning within the railway, as well as a strong understanding of train driver diagramming. An excellent understanding of the Network Code is essential.
As the position will have several direct reports, we are looking for a candidate who has had experience in line management, preferably on a larger scale, but this is not essential.
Microsoft programme skills, such as Word and Excel, are essential, as well as excellent data handling skills, along with a diligent hands-on approach to working and self-motivation to manage their own workload.
