We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Oncology Co-ordinator.
We are delighted to have an opportunity to recruit a Oncology Cancer Co-ordinator to join our established team of clinical oncologists, medical oncologists, oncology nurse practitioners, physician associates and an oncology co-ordinator.
Working in oncology you will have the opportunity to work with multiple teams to ensure that patients start their systemic anti-cancer treatment within seven days of consent. You will have a varied role from supporting consultants in clinic, taking bloods, co-ordinating diagnostic investigations and liaising with the treatment units.
You will play a central role in coordinate referrals to the Judy Beard and Pevensey Day units to ensure that patients there are no unnecessary delays to treatment.
You will work mainly at EDGH, and be expected to cross cover where needed at Uckfield and Conquest Hospitals..

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Supporting patients on the seven-day pathway from consent to treatment, this will include:
a) Performing clinical tasks such as taking blood, performing ECGs and other clinical tasks when necessary.
b) Ensuring all relevant tests are carried out prior to the SACT units booking the patient in for treatment.
c) Monitoring progress from “consent” to treatment on the day unit and taking necessary actions to support the pathway; and
d) To liaise with treating units to ensure patients treated within appropriate timescales.
2. To support consultants in outpatient clinics to ensure that all relevant blood tests and diagnostic tests are promptly carried out and the results reviewed by the clinical team prior to the SACT units booking the patient in for their first definitive treatment.
3. To work with consultants to clearly define what is required for the weekly oncology meetings to be effective and efficient and to put in place a process to review.
4. To organise and co-ordinate weekly oncology meetings to virtually review all patients receiving lung, gynaecological, breast, upper GI, urological and lower GI oncology treatments. This includes patients receiving chemoradiotherapy. This will involve:
