Based in Edinburgh, and working closely with the Audit Partners, you will manage a portfolio of clients, to meet the needs of those clients and to maximise the fee income of the portfolio by delivering high quality audit services managing the firm's risk profile in the process. Commercially, you will assist in the strategic development of the audit practice by winning new client work and having technical skills and experience that allows the firm to provide complex services and advice.
Primary responsibilities:
1. Plan, control and review client work to ensure that jobs are completed as efficiently and effectively as possible by allocating resources at an appropriate level and briefing/supporting the team from planning through to completion.
2. As part of the planning process, brief audit staff on the client and the nature of its business ensuring that the most cost-effective approach to the job that reduces the firm's risk to an acceptable level is clearly communicated.
3. Review all work received within agreed timescales, ensuring that any issues arising are referred to the Audit team for completion before any outstanding key issues are drawn to the attention of the Partner.
4. Ensure that files are complete and that audit work is sufficient to enable the Partner to form an opinion on the financial statements, bearing in mind the balance between cost and benefit.
5. Carry out debrief and provide feedback through our app, identifying any areas needing further development and giving positive and constructive feedback to ensure improved future performance.
6. Monitoring WIP on all jobs within the portfolio, communicating any potential problems, billing opportunities and write offs to the Partners on a timely basis.
7. Managing the billing process in a timely manner.
8. Support Partners at client and third-party meetings.
9. Support Partners/Directors in the drafting of tenders and attendance at presentations as required.
10. Proactively contribute to departmental and firm-wide business development activities.
About you...
You will be fully qualified CA/ACCA/ACA with significant experience operating at manager/senior manager on complex technical auditing/accounting assignments. You will be an accomplished people manager, including the ability to motivate, delegate effectively, develop the team and to lead. In addition, you will have the willingness to take on an external facing role including training and presenting to clients and 3rd parties.
