The Fidelity group’s Financial Services Global Tax team is responsible for all the management and governance of direct, indirect, products and operational risk across all Fidelity group companies and Fidelity funds. We provide strategic, effective and proactive tax services to the business, support the development of tax efficient products for our customers, and assist in influencing, interpreting, and implementing major tax legislative changes. About your role Preparation, maintenance, and submission of VAT (group) returns in accordance with legal requirements, including obtaining data provided by other areas of the business. Provide indirect tax support to the business, advise on new business proposals, projects, and organisational changes. Manage queries from HMRC and other tax authorities on all indirect tax related issues. Mange and review the indirect tax balance sheet to ensure they are reconcilied on a timely basis. Provide indirect tax feedback on new income and transfer pricing accounts. Management of key stakeholders in Finance, legal, etc, the Business and external advisers. Ensure any changes in legislation are incorporated into the business and relevant stakeholders advised. Monitor and challenge manual postings to the indirect tax accounts. Monitor and challenge the practical implementation of the group’s partial exemption special method. Provide strategic thinking and support to Global Tax colleages, including the Tax Director and Global Head of Tax. About you The Indirect Tax / VAT Manager role acts as an advisor to the business on all indirect tax matters, with an oversight and management of the indirect tax compliance. This role is to be filled by a candidate a) with an understanding of the asset management industry in generaland / or typical issues faced by Financial Services companies in Europe; b) who has knowledge or is willing to learn about the intricacies of the VAT issues affecting European domiciled funds; c) with good experience on European (UK & Ireland inclusive) VAT compliance; d) who can interact well with a plethora of advisers; e) who has a good knowledge of accounting systems and can understand the intricacies of an automated indirect tax reporting processes. Experience and qualifications required Part/Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CTA desirable but not essential. Previous experience of completing indirect tax returns and a basic understanding of HMRC compliance/indirect tax accounting. Previous experience of working in a partially exempt business, experience of working in financial services industry is desirable. Excellent excel skills and knowledge of finance systems (Oracle Cloud). Able to investigate and amend reported financials to remove inaccuracies. A drive to fully understand the detail and resolve issues in the correct way. Ability to work autonomously and under pressure. Encouraged to automate/change existing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. A proven background in indirect tax with strong tax technical skills and a detailed understanding of tax accounting and reporting requirements.
