Support Coordinator (Accessibility, Compliance, Communications, Policy) Advert Reference Number: 446 Job Location: Milton Keynes, Remote/Hybrid Department: Student Policy, Compliance and Casework Salary: £26,642 to £29,659 Closing Date: 15/12/2024 Weekly Working Hours: 37 Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract Fixed Term Contract: End Date: 31/07/2024 Welsh Language: Not Applicable : About the Role The Student Policy and Compliance Team are responsible for ensuring that the University’s digital channels providing student support are compliant with all relevant regulations and guidance. This includes managing compliance-related student communications, e.g. changes in the curriculum, along with publishing student policies and regulations as they are approved or updated. The team is also responsible for ensuring that all (administrative) student support websites and associated materials are compliant and are regularly reviewed. The role is threefold: to ensure that all policies hosted on the Student Policy & Regulations website are accessible and compliant with legislation. to provide support and advice ensuring the accessibility of student support websites and digital publications; including undertaking audits of websites and staff systems, including those partnered with The Open University to support the Manager, Policy and Compliance in maintaining online policy documents and organising student communications related to changes to the curriculum Key Responsibilities Convert policy documents from MSWord into PDFs or other formats, checking accessibility compliance, layout, spelling etc. in advance of publication. Under direction of the Manager, Policy and Compliance, act as co-ordinator to ensure that Academic Services websites and digital publications and related material is compliant with the appropriate legislation and University policy. For websites and online materials identified by the Policy and Compliance team as needing assessment, establish the scope and scale of the work that needs doing, who needs to be involved and when the work will be completed. Conduct assessments of the level of accessibility of the nominated websites and online material, using specified software and agreed templates and working under the standards and protocols of the CIO Portfolio Office. Working with IT and the Policy and Compliance team, act as the tester for fixed defects reporting on whether the fix has satisfied the requirements. With support of Manager, Policy, and Compliance, keep up to date with changes in the legislation and the University’s own accessibility policy and assessment methodology. Support colleagues to develop their understanding of accessibility, and their responsibilities regarding accessibility within their own roles. Provide support to the Manager, Policy and Compliance in the planning, construction, and despatch of student communications via CAMEL, relating to changes in the University’s curriculum or Policy. This will require liaising with other units to ensure that the details of the communications are correct, checking documents and scheduling dispatch. Record details of communications on a tracking sheet and respond to queries about communications details recorded on the tracking sheet. Skills and Experience Good standard of literacy, numeracy, and general education GCSE or equivalent in English and mathematics Knowledge of website accessibility requirements and the assessment of accessibility compliance with the WCAG guidelines Knowledge of assistive technologies and testing tools like NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, arc, axe, WAVE, PAC 3 and Accessibility Insights for Web.
