We are pleased to invite applications for a Nuclear Medicine Clinical Services Manager to join the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust to provide strong leadership to the existing team. Our department is based in the Cancer Centre, within the Oncology division, but we deliver a full range of diagnostic nuclear medicine tests to both adult and paediatric patients, as well as providing a comprehensive Molecular Radiotherapy service (including I-131 for benign and malignant thyroid disease, Y-90 SIRT, Lu-177 DOTATATE and Ra-223 Xofigo). We actively support training and development within our team, and have recently established an apprenticeship scheme in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
The successful candidate will provide a high level of professional leadership to the team, and work closely with the wider Oncology team to deliver a high quality of care to the patients. We welcome individuals who have experience at a senior level, and have an excellent understanding and knowledge of a forward thinking Nuclear Medicine service.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Services Manager will work in collaboration with the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics, Nuclear Medicine Clinicians and other SBU leads to help make policy decisions and be responsible for managing the clinical service provided by the department. The post holder will be required to manage departmental operations and provide clear strategic direction and leadership to all Nuclear Medicine staff whilst supporting the initiatives of the hospital and adhering to national recommendations and cancer wait targets.
The post holder will need to be motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking in their approach to improving the quality of service for patients, colleagues and the local community through innovation, training and research.
They will also be expected to represent the department on appropriate committees within the division and Trust. In addition, the post holder will also be responsible for managing the Nuclear Medicine Services budget.

The Nuclear Medicine Department provides a comprehensive service to the Royal Surrey Hospital and referrers from other hospital/clinical practices. Routine work includes diagnostic investigations using imaging and in-vitro techniques, and therapy using unsealed radionuclides. The jobholder will be an expert within the field of Nuclear Medicine and will maintain that expertise at the highest level. They must also provide an efficient and effective Nuclear Medicine service to the Trust.
The department is also active in research, with close links to the University of Surrey and other partners, and has an active portfolio of clinical trials of Molecular Radiotherapy. As a clinical service manager, you will lead a large team of technologists, radiographers, assistant practitioners, apprentices and administrative staff supporting the diagnostic service and work in close partnership with our Medical Physics team in the delivery of the Molecular Radiotherapy service.
They will demonstrate leadership and will be responsible for the training, supervision and monitoring of all staff in this field.
They will also take the departmental lead for aspects of clinical governance and several key performance indicators. The requirement is to represent the service at local and divisional governance groups including the review of studies within the Diagnostic Protocol Review group to attend meetings held by the Legal Review group, learning from Discrepancies group as well as Incident Investigation meetings and Senior and departmental managers meetings. The successful candidate will also chair monthly staff meetings, daily staff de-briefs, admin meetings and various other internal departmental meetings.
The successful applicant will be required to assist with the maintenance of the Quality Management System to maintain the BS70000 accreditation.
Oversee on-going compliance with the standard and all legislation pertinent to the business of imaging and healthcare including but not limited to: IR(M)ER and IRR, NICE and COSHH guidelines.
The post holder is required to act as a Radiation Protection Supervisor for diagnostic procedures carried out in the Department and to be responsible for the well-being, training, and supervision of imaging and A&C staff including students from both this Trust and other hospital trusts as required.

* MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent
* BSc Radiography/Physics (or equivalent)
* Health Professions Council (HPC) or RCT Registration
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Project Management qualification or equivalent training
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Extensive knowledge of Nuclear Medicine services
* Proven track record of significant successful operational management experience within an acute Trust in the NHS, or equivalent.
* Proven track record managing NHS teams and services at a senior level
* IT Skills, Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRIS, PACS, CERNER, ARIA2
* Previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes
* Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals
