Product Support Engineer

Thales OME designs a range of state-of-the-art solutions for some of the most technically advanced defence and security platforms in the world, and we are seeking an experienced product support engineer who can apply their knowledge and skills to support our Customers and our equipment.
Our Opportunity
As a Product Support Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for post-design technical queries supporting our colleagues within Industry and our Customers. A key aspect of the role is to work with Systems Engineering to identify and transfer the suitable work packages from Systems Engineering to Product Support Engineering.
Key responsibilities of the role
* Provide technical direction to the wider team to ensure that technical challenges/risks are being mitigated, providing support where required.
* Engage with a multi-disciplinary team across the project (systems, mechanical, software, safety, etc.) to develop an optimum solution.
* Identify product support work packages and smoothly transition them from Systems Engineering to Product Support Engineering.
* Support the generation of bids and estimates in the product support arena.
* Monitor progress of work against cost, schedule, and performance.
* Contribute to the development of the wider team, e.g., developing junior members of staff, proposing and implementing improvements, and reviewing the work of peers.
* Lead or participate in fault-finding activities, technical investigations, reviews, and improvement projects.
* Liaise with the Service Delivery Manager to understand the needs of our Customer.
About you
* Experience in the entire product lifecycle from bid/concept through to system integration/qualification and support.
* Contribution to defining policies and guidelines for your business unit or department.
* Prior experience of working on complex engineering systems supporting installed equipment.
Location
The position will be based at the Thales site in Glasgow.
This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
