Job description Introduction my client family-run company, opening a solo/dual Residential Children's Home in the Hastings area of East Sussex Our aim is to create a safe, happy, healing, family environment for 1/2 children between the ages of 8-17 years with EBD, who are unable to live with their families and may have experienced various trauma. We are looking for a team of caring adults who can be unde rstanding and compassionate for the children we are caring for, as well as the resilience and strength that it takes to manage the behaviours that can come from experiencing trauma and having EBD The Role To be a Senior Residential Support Worker, there are some skills and characteristics you must have - otherwise this is not the career for you. These include: compassion, empathy, resilience, hard-working, genuine want to help people, team player, good initiative, able to dynamically risk assess, able to lead a team, good understanding of the Standards of Care and what they entail, goals to learn and develop within the industry. They must also be able to oversee and lead the home when the Manager and Deputy are not there - seeking advice through the on call system when needed. The role of a Senior Residential Support Worker is to lead the team in supporting the children in every aspect of their lives, including ensuring the environment is clean and safe. You will be required to support the children in: getting up and ready for school, transporting them to and from school, cooking meals, attending health appointments, taking part in activities, going to family time, learning independence skills. Other responsibilities include: planning the day's shift, daily paperwork to monitor the child's progress, cleaning the home, health and safety checks, attending meetings and care planning for the child, leading shift de-briefs and handovers as well as working with the entire team to ensure the children are effectively safeguarded. We are acting-parents for these children, and our most important role is to be the stable, emotional support for them - for them to have adults that they can trust to act in their best interest and understand them. We want our children to feel safe, supported and cared for and the Senior Residential Support works are essential in achieving this.
