SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an acquisition search director (Sales Director/Account Director) into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specialises in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, listed business and private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest engage our client to execute a bespoke acquisition search and deal origination process; identifying target businesses within their specific criteria and subsequently approaching these businesses to create a pipeline of potential M&A opportunities. Companies rely on our client to have nuanced commercial conversations with senior stakeholders of target businesses to build a rapport, and ultimately build relationships that result in an acquisition or investment.
In this role, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the end-to-end client management across the below process:
* Agree the scope of the acquisition search with clients, at board level.
* Liaise with the research team to identify businesses within the client’s search criteria. Whilst not directly responsible for performing the research directly (as this will be delivered by an in-house research function) you will pivotal to ensuring the search strategy is accurately conveyed and interpreted internally; developing a deep familiarity with the client’s sector and constituent companies identified by the in-house research function
* Approach relevant stakeholders of the target businesses to establish rapport and hold lengthy, highly commercial conversations to discuss their sectorial dynamics, business model characteristics, track record and growth trajectory, financial performance and shareholder aspirations
* Client management and a cadence of client briefings to discuss ongoing project progress and affect a pipeline of introductions between client and relevant target businesses
* Relationship manage the acquisition process thereafter (this does not require financial qualifications but does require commercial nous).
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to interpret sophisticated business models and sectorial themes, and be adept in board-level environments given you will be managing client relationships at owner/CEO level (often with large corporates, private equity and private equity-backed businesses).
Due to the unique nature of this role, applicants from a range of commercial backgrounds will be considered. The current team is made up of individuals who have run their own businesses previously, or operated at Director level. This role offers a competitive salary with a very attractive and transparent bonus structure, which is paid at multiple intervals over the course of the year, based on deal activity. The bonus scheme is uncapped and in a good year, it is possible to earn bonuses amounting to 100% of your salary. The salary for this role is £50,000.
