POST: SEND Admin and Pupil Welfare Support Officer
RESPONSIBLE TO: SENDCO, Principals and Operations Managers
KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Academy Leadership Teams; relevant teaching and associate staff; LA representatives; partner professionals; parents; local community; other Oasis Academies and Oasis Community Learning central staff.
LOCATION: Initial base Oasis Academy Limeside (some travel required)
WORKING PATTERN: Full-Time 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (one year fixed term)

JOB PURPOSE:
1. To support teaching and learning by providing high quality administrative support, as part of the school Special Educational Needs and Disabilities teams across the region.
2. Working with teachers and colleagues within the region to provide a complimentary service to address the needs of pupils who need support to overcome barriers to learning to raise their aspirations and achieve their full potential.
3. To support the Academy’s commitment to improve Pupil outcomes through the effective maintenance and reporting and the active engagement with students, parents/carers and the wider community.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safeguarding children and young people: Oasis is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo appropriate checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
1. To produce high quality communication to parents, agencies, staff and the community through the effective use of Microsoft and other software packages, LA SEND systems, text messages and telephone calls.
2. To draft and/or type letters, documents and reports some of a confidential nature.
3. To input into designated information management systems, use download and distribute associated output as required.
4. To prepare for meetings including diary management.
5. To source, sort and provide documentation for planned meetings as required.
6. To maintain accurate records and files.
SEND Support:
1. To provide a comprehensive range of secretarial and administrative duties for the SENDCo. This post will be supporting academies in the region (6 academies) according to need.
2. Supporting teaching and learning by providing high quality administrative support, as part of a committed and flexible Special Educational Needs and Disabilities teams.
3. Provide administrative support for the SENDCO.
4. To offer information and advice to others regarding the support of pupils.
5. To be a “point of contact” between the school and external agencies involved in supporting pupils.
6. Provide administrative and organisational support to the SEND team.
7. Creating and maintaining systems to support the team and ensuring optimal efficiency.
8. To produce and send standard and nonstandard correspondence to parents and outside agencies.
9. Attend regular meetings with the SENDCO and Senior Leadership team to analyse and plan as a team.
Pupil Welfare:
1. To be a “point of contact” between the school and external agencies involved in supporting pupils.
2. To follow the School’s policy and procedures on Safeguarding, and to promote pupil’s awareness of personal safety and well-being.
3. To update and maintain Medical Care Plans including allergy information and share them with relevant colleagues.
4. To be responsible for ensuring all medical information is up to date and communicated to staff.
5. To be responsible for stock control of First Aid Items.
6. To administer medication and first aid.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Job Title: SEND and Pupil Welfare Support Officer
Education & Qualifications:
1. Grade C minimum in English and Maths (or equivalent).
2. First Aid at Work Qualification or willingness to undertake training.
3. Evidence of commitment to continued professional development.
Experience:
1. Effective time management skills and the ability to be proactive and efficient.
2. Ability to work to agreed quality levels and service standards.
3. Accurate and efficient word processing skills.
4. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
