This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025. The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5. Key responsibilities include: Planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and exam board specifications, fostering students' understanding of sociological concepts, theories, and research methods. Creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and thoughtful discussion of social issues. Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities. Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including case studies, documentaries, and current affairs, to enhance students' understanding of sociological perspectives and their application to the real world. Collaborating with colleagues within the Humanities department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education. The Successful Candidate will have: A degree in Sociology or a related field. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification. A strong understanding of the KS4 and KS5 Sociology curriculum. Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for sociology. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
