Due to increased demand within the department, our client now has a requirement for a Production Engineer. Our work environment includes: Modern office setting Steel fabrication and metal-working Final assembly spaces and workshops Growth opportunities Responsibilities and Duties Key duties will be within the engineering department working on BOM’s and project associated tasks, there will be an element of “hands on” involvement in production when reviewing and implementing changes, or dealing with production concerns. DIMENSIONS • Identify manufacturing needs for new products and customer orders. • Ensure all product and system requirements are considered and set-up accordingly (e.g., BOM’s & Routings). • Generate production documentation including Works Orders, parts Kitting Lists and Route Cards. • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout. • Carry out FMEAs (Failure Mode Effect Analysis), process documentation and implement improvements. • Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks. • Introduce Poka Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors. • Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training. • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems. • Develop and support cost saving opportunities and remove waste from processes. • Support NPI programmes ensuring engineering tasks are completed to plan. • Create the work breakdown structures necessary to manufacture products, components, and systems, in a safe manner, ensuring production targets, including but not limited to budget and timescales are achieved. • Support the creation of detailed Production Plans and Route Cards, and ensure their alignment to BOM’s and specification. • Promoting awareness and use of the TRANSCAL Engineering’s Business Management Systems, identifying opportunities for training. • Assisting with the management and transfer of data, and information provided to the Engineering department in relation to Change Control of engineering drawings. • Support the Engineering Design function. • Interpret engineering drawings, and ensure information is communicated appropriately to the Production Team(s). • Identify, report, and assist with resolution, of any manufacturing concerns. • Work collaboratively with all departments, for the successful transition of new products, from design through to product realisation, including ‘short lead-time’ prototypes. • Verify and validate, BOM’s, for structure and correctness, via application of the business MRP system. • Support the Manufacturing Process Engineering function with identifying the requirement of special tooling, jigs, and fixtures. Maintain database of customer drawings / in-house designed drawings and operate Version Control disciplines and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Mechanical Degree or similar. Accredited in an applicable and equivalent engineering discipline. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL · Minimum of 3-5 years current experience within a similar position, industry, or engineering environment. · Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working with BS EN ISO standards, (BS 8888). · Excellent communication skills and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. · Strong IT skills and a knowledge of design and engineering software (CAD and 3D modelling advantageous). · Ability to manage effectively to deadlines and the achievement of targets. · Excellent team player with a proactive hands-on approach. · Ability to prioritise and perform duties whilst under minimum supervision. DESIRABLE Experience of working within the guidelines of BS EN ISO 9001, 3834, EN 15085, predominantly welding and fabrication. Experience of working within Defence, Aerospace or Rail industries and application of Def-Stan / Mil-Std, and RIS. Knowledge of lean and six sigma methodologies. Package: Monday – Friday (subject to change depending on business requirements) Core Hours 07:45 – 17:00 Monday – Thursday and 07:45 – 13:00 on a Friday. 39 hours of work per week.
