Our industrial services client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for their Water division working on Thames Water projects out of their Reading office.
Our client is a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across the chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals & biopharma, power & energy, utilities, renewables and food & beverage markets. They enhance the efficiency of assets, ensuring a high level of availability and reducing maintenance costs.
Responsibilities
Identifying, raising, monitoring and closing Early Warning notices
Identifying, raising, monitoring and closing Variation notices
Estimating and pricing Variation quotations, negotiating through to agreement
Working with others to ensure fully compliant contract notices are raised under the contract, i.e. with the Planning Department for Time Impacted Programmes
Advising other departments on contractual obligations of the Contractor
Producing Applications for Payment in accordance with the stated contract method
Ensuring invoices are requested in accordance with the contract conditions
Submit weekly dashboard to RCM for status of contract notice
Producing Project Specific Cost and Value Reports
Forecasting versus budget (cost and value)
Cost analysis - prelims, plant, equipment, materials, labour, subcontract
Value analysis
Subcontract management
cash flow and supporting the Finance department with cash collection when necessary
Identifying margin improvement opportunities
Supporting the commercial team in write-down of Work in Progress from Client/PMO
Skills, experience, qualifications
5+ years in similar role in a contracting organisation
Experience of contracting in Water Utilities sector (essential)
Experience of NEC3/4 and/or IchemE contracts (essential)
Experience of CEMAR or similar tools (desirable but not essential)
Evidence of dispute resolution (desirable but not essential)
SAP experience (desirable but not essential)
ESSENTIAL: Either engineering or commercial qualification
DESIRABLE: Degree (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, IT, or similar)
Member of Profession Institution (e.g. MRICS or similar)
Strong background in dealing with commercial issuesBenefits
