Prison Support Worker

The Role:
We are recruiting for a Support Worker who will support offenders in custody with guidance, coaching, and practical support, helping them prepare for release from custody and resettle successfully into their local communities.
Duties:
Manage a caseload of participants, providing resettlement support and guidance.
Assess participants’ needs and create tailored Action Plans.
Deliver one-to-one and group sessions, offering mentoring, advice, and training.
Track progress and monitor participants' development.
Build relationships with HMPPS and external agencies to enhance support.
Assist with pre-release planning and ensure smooth transitions to community support.
Required Skills:
Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and/or teaching qualifications (or equivalent) desired, but practical experience is most important.
Experience working with offenders or marginalised individuals in training, guidance, advice, or counselling roles.
Strong mentoring and guidance skills, with experience in group and individual sessions.
Knowledge of the issues affecting offender rehabilitation and desistance theory.
Familiarity with National Probation Service, HM Prison environments, and local/national training, education, and employment opportunities.
Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Due to the nature of this role, you will need to undertake an enhanced DBS and prison security checks.
