Governance & Development Graduate
Role: Governance & Development Graduate
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £26,000 per annum
Contract: Fixed-term Contract (2 years)
You'll be supporting the delivery of our projects to achieve the aims of our corporate strategy.
In year 1, you'll work with the Governance Manager helping us maintain our regulatory, legal, and statutory accountabilities and to achieve the highest levels of compliance. You'll work with key areas of the business to identify risk areas and ensure they're properly managed.
In year 2, you'll be supporting the Senior Land & New Business Manager and Senior Development Project Manager. You'll be helping to identify new schemes and identifying land to build our new homes on. You'll develop a broad understanding of the land buying process, various deal structures when acquiring new schemes, project management, contract management and building construction technology.
As part of your development and to support your career in housing, we'll invest in you to complete an apprenticeship qualification.
We support agile working, so you'll be provided all IT equipment to work flexibly between your home and at our Dartford office.

Your key tasks will include:
Year 1: Governance & Assurance
1. Embedding more focused governance and assurance across Moat to enable us to deliver great results.
2. Providing support to a wide range of internal groups, teams, committees, and boards, which will give you great insight into decision making mechanisms and an understanding of how Moat functions.
3. Supporting key business areas on the risks/issues they face; making links to identify creative solutions and drive the delivery of the corporate strategy.
4. Maintaining our regulatory, legal, and statutory accountabilities to achieve the highest levels of compliance.
5. Support the introduction of performance standards into the team, to drive decisive actions.
6. Leading on projects such as development of the Governance Framework Handbook, embedding compliance with data protection principles across the business and assisting in the co-ordination of compliance with the new Housing consumer standards.
Year 2: Development
1. Being accountable for a new development project acquisition including approval process, project management through to practical completion and handover of homes to our customers.
2. Delivering quality homes development within agreed targets, budgets, and value for money criteria.
3. Identifying and delivering development opportunities including land package deals and regeneration initiatives to achieve our growth strategy.
4. Appraising and negotiating new opportunities considering local housing need, customer need, funding requirements, and design and commercial risk.
5. Understanding and following Moat development policies, systems, and procedures, including standard specification and design.
6. Being responsible for financial management and managing risk.
7. Producing management information.
We're looking for someone who has:
1. An undergraduate degree in any subject, achieving a 2:2 or above within the last 3 years.
2. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
3. Strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
4. Good interpersonal and communication skills including influencing.
5. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. The ability to problem-solve and proactively find solutions.
7. The ability to prioritise competing demands, demonstrate flexibility and composure under pressure.
8. Strong attention to detail.
9. Strong creativity and innovation.
10. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required for year 2.
In addition, the following would be beneficial but aren't essential:
1. Awareness of social housing regulations.
2. Experience of office administration - organising systems, records, and files.
3. Experience of managing a project.
4. A basic understanding of building construction.

What will the interview process look like?
1. Complete a psychometric test
2. Attend an assessment centre on 30th September - 1st October which will include an icebreaker activity, speed meeting with Senior Leadership Team and a team building activity
3. Virtual interview 2nd - 4th October
