Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking, enthusiastic Band 5 Physiotherapist with an interest in older people to join our supportive and friendly integrated Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team. The job role offers a broad range of experience across both short stay wards and specialist complex medicine units. The process by which the post holder progresses to a Band 6 Physio position is through clinical performance and achievement of set competencies.
You will need to have a sound basic knowledge of common pathologies including ageing, falls, and frailty, and the ability to apply your knowledge from a number of disciplines including neurology, trauma, musculoskeletal and respiratory areas. You will need to have high levels of professionalism and strong communication skills to work effectively. As part of a multi professional team, you will undertake a comprehensive assessment of need and deliver interventions to optimise the recovery of older people during their acute hospital stay and prepare them to return to their home.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide high quality, safe and effective Physiotherapy services to older adults, as part of a cohesive multi-professional team.
2. To work collaboratively with patients and their carers to effectively assess, goal plan and treat patients following admission to hospital and strive to maximise their independence and quality of life.
3. To supervise and teach recently qualified Physiotherapists, support workers and Physiotherapy students.
4. To actively participate in quality improvement, clinical audit and research projects.
5. To take an active part in the team’s extended hours and seven-day working roster to maximise the access and delivery of older adult rehabilitation.
Person specification
* Degree in Physiotherapy
* Registered with HCPC
* Experience in a number of areas including orthopaedics, neurology, and older adults.
* Experience in working with Frailty
* Experience working as part of the MDT
* Up to date with best practice in older adult rehabilitation
* Experience working in an acute ward environment
* Evidence of self-motivation and completion of CPD activity
