Job Title: SHEQ Advisor Location: Argyll, Scotland, UK Sector: Marine Civil Engineering Employment Type: Perm Salary: £40,000 £55,000 Start Date: Immediately Company Overview: Our client is a specialist contractor operating in the marine civil engineering sector, delivering high-profile projects across the UK involving coastal defence, port infrastructure, piling, underwater construction, and marine-based civil works. With a growing project pipeline, they are seeking a SHEQ Advisor to support their safety, health, environmental, and quality assurance across all sites and operations. Role Overview: As a SHEQ Advisor, you will play a vital role in promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring regulatory compliance across a variety of marine and civil engineering projects. You will support project teams and site operations, offering guidance, conducting audits, and helping to implement robust SHEQ systems. Key Responsibilities: Support the development and implementation of SHEQ policies and procedures. Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legal and company standards. Advise project and site teams on health & safety legislation, environmental best practices, and quality control measures. Investigate incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances, producing reports and recommending corrective actions. Assist in preparing RAMS, method statements, and project-specific SHEQ documentation. Maintain SHEQ records, certifications, and statutory registers. Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies as required. Promote a positive culture of continual improvement and safety awareness on site.Requirements: NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent (minimum). Proven experience in a SHEQ role within civil engineering or marine construction sectors. Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations, environmental legislation, and quality standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Experience working in or with diving operations, marine piling, or overwater works is highly beneficial. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Willingness to travel to various project sites across the UK.Desirable: Experience supporting diving operations or working alongside diving teams.
