Douglas Grove Surgery is currently looking to recruit a receptionist to join our team, in the first instance on a temporary contract to cover staff leave. This will be for approximately 4 months but we will consider a permanent role for the right candidate upon completion of the temporary contract.
The role is offered on a part time basis for 20 hours per week, including various 5 hour shifts between 8.30am-6.30pm, Monday to Friday.
In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed. We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service.
Main duties of the job
* Greeting and directing all patients.
* Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required.
* Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
* Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
* Advising patients of practice procedures.
* Registering new patients.
* Answering the telephone, promptly.
About us
We are a small teaching practice of circa 7,000 patients and form part of the Aegros PCN. We have 2 GPs, 1 trainee, plus 5 nursing staff, with a small admin team in support.

* Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
