Children's Services Manager - Children & Families Practice Team (3243), Western Isles
37 hours per week, Permanent Post
£52,399 - £57,048 per annum, inclusive of £2,742 Distant Islands Allowance
The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and delivery of Children and Families Social Work functions including Child Protection, Looked After Children, Youth Justice, Throughcare/Aftercare, and family-based therapeutic inputs throughout the Western Isles. Additionally, the role includes the strategic development of Children’s Services in collaboration with the Head of Service and Children’s Services Manager – Resources.
You must have experience of chairing Child Care Reviews and monitoring the quality of child care services. A proven track record of working effectively with other services and agencies, along with management experience in Social Work, is essential.
A working knowledge of integrated assessment and care management, sound knowledge of childcare legislation and guidance, and an understanding of current social policy affecting Children and Families social work are required.
You should possess the ability to manage competing demands, assist others in managing theirs, and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. Skills in negotiation, problem-solving, and the ability to lead and motivate staff are crucial.
It is essential to hold a Diploma in Social Work or equivalent, and a full driving licence is required.
This post can be based anywhere within the Local Authority area and is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children & adults.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment will be on the first point of the grade.
