We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team on the medical day unit and outpatient department at Cavendish Square.
This is an exciting role, where you will enjoy supporting the nursing team across the outpatient and day unit ambulatory care setting. It is expected that you will be an experienced oncology nurse who demonstrates competence in SACT administration, Venepuncture, and Cannulation, and feels confident in supporting others with these skills.
The Royal Marsden Private Care is a dedicated private diagnostics and treatment centre located on Cavendish Square. As a specialist cancer centre, Cavendish Square has the clinical expertise, facilities, and technology to provide leading private care service. Cavendish Square will link in with the Royal Marsden’s three other hospital sites, which are located in Chelsea, Sutton, and Kingston. Whilst the post holder will ultimately be permanently based in Cavendish Square, all nurses will spend between 6-12 months inducting and training at the Chelsea site.
Responsibilities
The Band 5 registered nurse for Cavendish Square is an exciting role, which enables the development of skills across outpatient and medical day unit ambulatory care settings. The main roles and responsibilities include:
1. Following appropriate training, have specific responsibility within Outpatient’s and MDU for those patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy treatment. This includes the administration of systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT).
2. To plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, which has been drawn up in conjunction with the co-ordinator of the shift.
3. To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
